HP LaserJet, Color LaserJet, and LaserJet AiO/MFP Products - Install a full feature driver or full solution on a Windows 7 OS (32-bit and 64-bit) through a network

Introduction
Some HP printers, multifunction products and All-in-Ones may not come with a driver, or may come with a basic driver built into the Windows 7 operating system (OS) (in-OS driver). In-OS drivers do not include the same features provided on the product CD or in the full feature or full solution download.
Customers who do not have a product CD, who do not have a basic driver included with their product, or who want to upgrade from the basic print driver to a full solution, can use the steps provided in this document to find out where to obtain and how to install the full feature or full solution download.
This document applies to products such as the following:
  • HP Color LaserJet CM1312 and CM2320 Multifunction Printer series
  • HP Color LaserJet CP1210 Printer series
  • HP Color LaserJet Enterprise CP4525 and CP5525 Printer series

Before you begin
Full feature drivers or full solutions are recommended for most products when available. The full solution is a collection of software that includes the complete set of drivers, installer software, and other administrative tools also provided with the product's software CD. Before you begin, make sure that you have enough memory and space on your computer to download the full solution and set aside enough time to allow the download to complete.
If you need a basic driver because the full solution download is too large (up to 320 MB) and you do not have a basic driver included in the Windows 7 OS, some products have a smaller, product-specific driver available for download from www.hp.com. The product-specific driver (Plug and Play, for example) can typically found on the individual product page under the Driver - Product Installation Software section.
NOTE: Universal Print Drivers (UPDs) are available for many products but may not be the best choice for your product. UPDs are not recommended for all multifunction products because they are print only . If you have a multifunction product such as the HP LaserJet M1522 and HP LaserJet M2727 MFPs, or the HP Color LaserJet CM1312 MFP, use the full solution available for the product. If the full solution download is too large, use the product-specific solution (e.g. Plug and Play, Print/Scan, PCL6 (non UPD), etc.). If a product-specific solution is not available, use the In-OS driver if included with the Windows 7 operating system. If you are not sure whether a basic In-OS driver is already installed or for more information on how to install the driver included in the Windows 7 OS, go to Install the Printer Driver through the Windows 7 Operating System (c02536257) (in English). If you do not have a basic driver included with your product, or you want more advanced functionality but do not have a full solution available for your product, go to How to Select the Correct Print Driver (c00751649).
This document provides instructions on how to download and install the full feature or full solution print drivers provided by HP on supported products through a network in use with Windows 7. If you are using a USB cable to install the driver, go to Install an HP full feature driver or full solution on a Windows 7 OS (32-bit and 64-bit) using a USB or parallel port (c02753196) (in English).
Select a full feature driver or a full solution
Full feature drivers or full sollutions, when available, are typically located under the Software or Driver sections on the individual product support and driver pages.
Some examples might include one of the following full feature drivers or full solution options:
  • Americas - Full Software and Drivers Solution
  • HP LaserJet Full Feature Software and Driver
  • HP Color LaserJet Series Full Software Solution , or
  • HP LaserJet Series Full Software Solution Americas/Europe
  • HP Color LaserJet Printer Software
NOTE: Some products, such as the HP Color LaserJet Enterprise CP5525, may have a variance in the full solution name (e.g. HP Color LaserJet Enterprise CP5525 Printer Software).
To download the full solution, go to HP Support & Drivers , or click the back button on your browser to return to your product page on the HP Web site.
NOTE: If the full solution is not available for your product, use the product-specific driver (Plug and Play, for example). If a product-specific driver is not available, go to Install a Universal Print Driver (UPD) using a USB to enable print-only function in Windows 7 (32-bit and 64-bit) (c02536202).
