HP Laserjet 1018, 1020, and 1022 Printers and M1319f Multifunction Printer - Windows XP, Vista, and Windows 7: Products Do Not Print When Connected Through a 64-bit Server on a Network

Issue
Products do not print when they are connected through a 64-bit server on a network in Windows XP, Vista, or Windows 7.
Solution
Install the 32-bit print driver through the 64-bit print driver.
Follow these steps in the order presented to resolve the issue.
NOTE: The following steps require you to install print drivers on your server. You need administrative rights on the server to do this. If you do not have administrative rights on the server, ask your system administrator to perform the following steps.
Step one: Download the 64-bit print driver
Follow these steps to download the software and 64-bit print driver for your product.
  1. Disconnect the USB cable from the product and the server.
  2. Press the Power switch to turn on the product.
  3. Right-click the following link, Select Software and Drivers , and then click Open in New Window .
  4. Select Download drivers and software (and firmware) , type your product name in the For product: text box, and then press Enter . The Product search results page displays.
  5. Click the name of your product in the list that displays, select your operating system from the drop-down, and then click Next . An expandable list of print drivers displays.
  6. Select a 64-bit print driver to download from the list, and then click Download . The Save dialog box displays.
  7. Click Save File . The software downloads to your computer.
    Tip: Note the place where you save the file, in case you want to install it at a later time.
Step two: Download the 32-bit print driver
Follow these steps to download the software and 32-bit print driver for your product.
  1. Disconnect the USB cable from the product and the server.
  2. Press the Power switch to turn on the product.
  3. Right-click the following link, Select Software and Drivers , and then click Open in New Window .
  4. Select Download drivers and software (and firmware) , type your product name in the For product: text box, and then press Enter . The Product search results page displays.
  5. Click the name of your product in the list that displays, select your operating system from the drop-down, and then click Next . An expandable list of print drivers displays.
  6. Select a 32-bit print driver to download from the list, and then click Download . The Save dialog box displays.
  7. Click Save File . The software downloads to your computer.
    Tip: Note the place where you save the file, in case you want to install it at a later time.
Step three: Install the 64-bit print driver
Follow these steps to install the 64-bit print driver on your computer.
  1. Locate the folder where you saved the print driver software, and then double-click the folder to open it.
  2. Double-click the file that ends in .exe to open it.
  3. Accept the default location to save the files, and then click Next . The installer extracts the files and prepares for installation.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to install the print driver.
  5. Open the Printers folder.
    • Windows XP: Click Start , and then click Printers and Faxes . The Printers and Faxes window opens.
    • Windows Vista: Click the Windows icon ( ), and then click Devices . The Devices window opens.
    • Windows 7: Click the Windows icon ( ), and then click Devices and Printers . The Devices and Printers window opens.
  6. Right-click your product, and then click Properties . The Properties window opens.
  7. Click the Sharing tab, and then click in the check box next to Share this printer to select it.

Step four: Install the 32-bit print driver through the 64-bit print driver
Follow these steps to install the 32-bit print driver through the 64-bit print driver that you already installed on your computer.
  1. Open the Printers folder:
    • Windows XP: Click Start , and then click Printers and Faxes . The Printers and Faxes window opens.
    • Windows Vista: Click the Windows icon ( ), and then click Devices . The Devices window opens.
    • Windows 7: Click the Windows icon ( ), and then click Devices and Printers . The Devices and Printers window opens.
  2. Right-click your product, and then click Properties . The Properties window opens.
  3. Click the Sharing tab, and then click Additional Drivers... .

  4. Click in the check box next to x86 to select it, and then click OK .
  5. Locate the folder where you saved the 32-bit print driver software, and then double-click the folder to open it.
  6. Select the file that ends in .inf , and then click OK .
  7. Return to the Sharing tab, and then make sure that check marks display next to x64 and x86 .
Step five: Map individual computers to the print driver through the network
Follow these steps to install the print driver using Add a Printer Wizard on each of the computers on the network.
Windows XP
  1. Click Start , and then click Printers and Faxes .
  2. Click Add a printer . The Add Printer Wizard opens.
  3. Click Next .
  4. When asked to select the option that describes the product you want to use, choose A network printer, or a printer attached to another computer , and then click Next .
  5. Select the radio button for a TCP or IP install, type the Hostname or IP address in the text box, and then click Next .
  6. Complete any additional steps in the Wizard, and then click Finish .
Windows Vista
  1. Click the Windows icon ( ), and then click Control Panel .
  2. Under Hardware and Sound , click Printer .
  3. Click Add Printer .
  4. Click Add a network, wireless or Bluetooth printer .
  5. Click The printer that I want isn't listed .
  6. Select Add a printer using TCP/IP address or hostname , and then click Next .
  7. Change the Device type by clicking TCP/IP Device in the drop-down.
  8. Type the Hostname or IP address in the text box, and then click Next .
  9. Complete any additional steps in the Wizard, and then click Finish .
Windows 7
  1. Click the Windows icon ( ), and then click Devices and Printers .
  2. Click Add Printer .
  3. Click Add a network, wireless or Bluetooth printer .
  4. Click The printer that I want isn't listed .
  5. Select Add a printer using TCP/IP address or hostname , and then click Next .
  6. Change the Device type by clicking TCP/IP Device in the drop-down.
  7. Type the Hostname or IP address in the text box, and then click Next .
  8. Complete any additional steps in the Wizard, and then click Finish .
