IMPORTANT: Minimum System ROM versions are required to achieve compatibility for the SATA hard drives listed below, when configured with Embedded SATA or Embedded SATA RAID Controllers on the servers listed below, to avoid the potential for erratic system behavior. Neglecting to perform the required action could leave the server in an unstable condition. By disregarding this notification, the customer accepts the risk of incurring future erratic system behavior.

Minimum System ROM versions are required for the following ProLiant servers for support and proper operation of the following SATA hard drives with Embedded SATA and Embedded SATA RAID Controllers:

Table 3: SATA Hard Drives - Non-Hot Plug

Note: The maximum SATA drive interface speed for a specific server configuration is dependent on the maximum transfer rate supported by the hard drive, the hard drive backplane, and the HBA or controller. For example, a 3 GB SATA drive will run at 1.5Gb/s, if the maximum transfer rate supported by the HBA or controller is 1.5 Gb/s. Please refer to the server and/or controller QuickSpecs for additional technical specifications.

DETAILS

To gain support for these SATA drives in these servers, ensure that the minimum System ROM versions (or later) listed in Table 4 below are met before any of these drives are added to these servers.

  4. Select the specific server model from the Product Search Results page, if this page appears.
  5. Select the appropriate operating system.
  6. Select BIOS - System ROM.
  7. Select the latest version of the System ROM firmware and click Download .

Other Considerations

These SATA hard drives should not be installed into one of these servers when running a System ROM version earlier than listed in Table 4 (above), and these servers should not be downgraded to an earlier System ROM version if one of these SATA drives are attached to the Embedded SATA or Embedded SATA RAID Controller because unpredictable system and/or drive behavior may result.

For other servers that may be configured with one of these SATA drives, refer to the server QuickSpecs for a listing of compatible hard drives, or go to the Drive and Enclosures Documentation web page for the latest SATA drive compatibility information, which is located at the following URL:
