The HP.com website provides multiple methods of locating the latest drivers, patches, and other support software for ProLiant servers and options. This document will assist in locating ProLiant server downloads using the following methods:

  • Locating information for HP Service Pack for ProLiant and related hot fixes
  • Locating Linux deliverables on the Software Delivery Repository located at:

    http://downloads.linux.hp.com/SDR/

  • Locating VMware deliverables on the Software Delivery Repository -vibsdepot located at:

    http://vibsdepot.hp.com

  • Locating support information navigating HP.com using the "Support and Drivers" option
DETAILS

To retrieve the maximum number of relevant software downloads, use the following options to navigate HP.com.

Option 1: Locating information for HP Service Pack for ProLiant and related hot fixes

HP Service Pack for ProLiant (SPP) is an industry-leading, solutions-oriented approach to systems software maintenance. It is a family of deliverables that includes firmware and system software for supported HP ProLiant servers and uses HP Smart Update Manager (HP SUM) as the deployment engine. Components are all tested together as a solution stack and are bundled into a single download. The SPP includes firmware, drivers, utilities, agents, and tools for ProLiant servers, enclosures and options plus HP SUM. They can be accessed directly in any of the following three ways:

  • Use the link named "HP Service Pack for ProLiant downloads" that is available from the left or right navigation bar on HP ProLiant server product pages as follows:

  • Navigating HP.com as described in Option 4 below.

A hot fix is a firmware or software component update that is released outside of an SPP release and its previous version has been included in an SPP release. Hot fixes and their associated Customer Advisories for a specific SPP release can be found on the SPP's Hot Fix and Customer Advisory page located as a link off of the SPP download page.

Option 2: Locating Linux deliverables on the Software Delivery Repository at: http://downloads.linux.hp.com/SDR/ .

HP provides a Software Delivery Repository containing Linux deliverables from the SPP and the HP ProLiant Support Pack for Linux as well as other products.

  1. Go to the following URL:

    http://downloads.linux.hp.com/SDR/



    Note: Follow the instructions to deliver RPMs using standard Linux tools.

  2. Select the Linux deliverable on Software Delivery Repository from the following page:



  3. Select the product link and follow the directory structure to locate the deliverables as follows:



Option 3: Locating VMware deliverables on the Software Delivery Repository -vibsdepot at: http://vibsdepot.hp.com .
HP provides a Software Delivery Repository containing VMware deliverables.

  1. Go to the following URL:

    http://vibsdepot.hp.com



    Note: Follow the instructions for online access to the HP developed VMware® Bundles for use with VMware® vSphere 5.0 Image Builder, Update Manager (VUM) and ESXCLI.

  2. Select the VMware deliverable from the Software Delivery Repository as follows:



Option 4: Locating support information navigating HP.com using the "Support and Drivers" option.

Use the following to navigate HP.com.

  1. Go to the Support & Drivers page at the following URL:

    http://welcome.hp.com/country/us/en/support.html?pageDisplay=drivers

  2. Then, under "Support & Drivers", select Drivers & Software as follows:



  3. Type in a product name in the "Enter a product name/number" as follows:



  4. Select the desired ProLiant server series, model and generation. Then, select the operating system. In the example below, the ProLiant DL380 G7 server is selected.

Once a product and operating system have been chosen (for example, the ProLiant DL380 G7 and Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 Server as shown above) the BSC "Download Drivers, Software and Firmware" page is displayed as follows:

Note: From this page, virtually all available downloads (System ROM, Support Pack, Driver, etc.) related to a particular product can be accessed.

If the hard drive model number or specific Smart Component number is known, locate firmware by searching from the Support & Drivers web page at the following URL. Enter the hard drive model number or Smart Component number in the "Enter a product name/number" box and then click on search:
