Original Document Release.

When the HP ProLiant Integrated Lights-Out Management (iLO) Interface Driver (CpqCiDrv) for Windows requests extra contiguous memory blocks under the 4 GB space and the system does not have any free blocks available of the size requested by the driver, the allocation request does not occur. If the operating system cannot satisfy the contiguous memory blocks under the 4 GB space, the server may become unresponsive.

Note: Systems with more than 4 GB of RAM running for long periods of time without a reboot are unlikely to have contiguous free memory blocks available under the 4 GB space.

SCOPE

Any ProLiant server with Integrated Lights-Out (iLO) and running either of the following operating systems and drivers:

  • Microsoft Windows Server 2003 (any edition) and HP ProLiant Integrated Lights-Out Management Interface Driver (Version 1.8.2195.0 or earlier) for Windows 2000/Windows Server 2003.

Or

  • Microsoft Windows Server 2003 x64 (any edition) and HP ProLiant Integrated Lights-Out Management Interface Driver (Version 1.8.3790.0 or earlier) for Windows Server 2003 x64 Editions.

A list of ProLiant servers with the iLO management feature is maintained at the following URL:

RESOLUTION

Upgrade to HP ProLiant Integrated Lights-Out Management Interface Driver Version 1.9 (or later). The updated driver will pre-allocate all memory space required by iLO during server boot.
