VULNERABILITY SUMMARY
A potential security vulnerability has been identified in the HP Color LaserJet 2500 and 4600 Toolbox, which may allow an unauthorized remote attacker to read arbitrary files.

This potential security vulnerability allows a remote unauthorized malicious user to retrieve arbitrary files from a Microsoft Windows computer when the HP Color LaserJet 2500 and 4600 Toolbox is in the default configuration.
RESOLUTION
HP has made the "HP Color LaserJet 2500/4600 Software Update" version 3.1 available to resolve the issue.
The software update can be downloaded as follows:
For the HP Color LaserJet 2500

Browse to

- Select ">>Download Drivers and Software"
- Under "Select your product" choose the printer model.
- Under "Select operating system" choose the operating system.
- Download the "HP Color LaserJet 2500/4600 Software Update" version 3.1
- Follow the download instructions presented on the "HP Color LaserJet 2500/4600 Software Update" download page to run the update.
For the HP Color LaserJet 4600

- Under "Select your product" choose the printer model.
- Under "Select operating system" choose the operating system.
- Download the "HP Color LaserJet 2500/4600 Software Update" version 3.1
- Follow the download instructions presented on the "HP Color LaserJet 2500/4600 Software Update" download page to run the update.
After the update has been installed the following file:
C:\Program Files\Hewlett-Packard\ProxyService\Classes\ProxyService.jar
will have the following File Size and Date Modified:
File Size: 147,162 bytes
