Introduction

The HP Designjet 4000 series printers do not support the HP Jetdirect 625n 10/100/1000T EIO Print Server (J7960A).

The 4000 series printers have an optional Gigabit Ethernet solution, the Jetdirect 40d (Q5679A), which provides much better throughput than the Jetdirect 625 EIO Print Server. The throughput of the Jetdirect 40d (accessory gigabit card) is much higher than that of the Jetdirect 625n, and provides a better solution for most customers.

The only value gained by adding a Jetdirect 625n EIO card in a Designjet 4000 is to provide Gigabit connectivity to users that request security features that the HP Designjet 4000 does not have (all of which are only available when using EIO Jetdirects).
