HP Deskjet 6127 and 5850 Printer - Adding a Standard TCP/IP Port
Introduction
This step-by-step document describes how to add a Standard TCP/IP Port for the HP Deskjet 6127 and 5850 printer in Windows 2000 and XP.
Instructions
Click Start
, click Settings
, and then click Printers
.
Right-click the HP Deskjet 6127
or HP Deskjet 5850
printer icon.
Click Properties
. The printer Properties window will open (see Figure 1). Figure 1: Printer properties window
Click the Ports
tab. The Printer ports window will open (see Figure 2). Figure 2: Printer ports window
Click Add Port
.
Click Standard TCP/IP Port

Click New Port

NOTE:

If the port reads "LexmarkTCP/IP Port," or "Cannon TCP/IP Port" then it is possible that one of these printers has captured the port. If this is the case, contact the printer manufacture to assist in removing the printer. |
Click Next
. The Add Standard TCP/IP Printer Port window will open.
In the Printer Name or IP Address box
(see Figure 4), type in the IP Address of the printer. Figure 4: Add Standard TCP/IP Printer Port
Click Next
.
Select Standard
(see Figure 5). Figure 5: Additional Port Information
Click Next
, and then click Finish
.
Verify there is a check mark (see Figure 6) next to the new port that was added. Figure 6: New port added
Click Apply
.
Click the General
tab.
Click Print Test Page
.
