Printer description
The HP DesignJet 750C printer is a large-format, color and monochrome, inkjet printer that provides hardcopy output of computer program data.
Large-format plots of high resolution and quality are generated for applications such as:
Computer-aided design (CAD)
Computer-aided manufacturing (CAM)
Mapping
Mechanical and architectural drawings
General drafting
Large format printers markets
Graphic languages
The printer accepts drawing data from CAD software programs supporting the following languages:
Hewlett-Packard Graphics Language (HP-GL), a vector language.
HP-GL/2, an enhanced version of HP-GL.
HP Raster Transfer Language (HP-RTL) a raster language.
Printer Job Language (PJL).
The printer supports HP-GL/2 with both the Roman and the Japanese Kanji character sets (provided the Kanji ROM SIMM is fitted). PostScript (TM) is also available when the PostScript upgrade is fitted.
Printer features
Automatic media-edge sensing.
Automatic cartridge alignment, testing and servicing.
Built-in diagnostic and demonstration plots.
Automatic media stacking with adjustable media bin.
An automatic single-axis cutter.
Queuing, nesting and expanded margin capabilities.
Easy-to-read 2 x 30 vacuum fluorescent display (VFD).
Recommended cables
Cable restrictions
Cable restrictions for the printer are determined by the type of interface being used. Recommendations for each interface are supplied in the following paragraphs.
RS-232-C interface
The use of a short cables (each less than 15 meters or 50 feet) is recommended for the RS-232-C interface. A longer cable is permissible, provided the load capacitance does not exceed 2500 picofarads.
Centronics interface
The use of a short cable (less than 2 meters or 6.6 ft.) is recommended for the Centronics interface.

Memory information
The HP DesignJet 750C printer has four (4) megabytes (MB) of standard on-board RAM, plus three (3) additional MB used internally. A PostScript ROM and an MIO card are optional. There are also two RAM-expansion sockets, which can hold an optional 4 MB, 8 MB, 16 MB, or 32 MB, single in-line memory module (SIMM). The maximum RAM is therefore 68 + 3 MB.
The HP DesignJet 755CM printer has 4 MB of standard on-board RAM, plus 3 additional MB used internally. In addition, the PostScript ROM SIMM, the MIO card, and two 32-MB SIMMs are pre-installed in the standard configuration.
Performance
"Normal" printer use
"Normal" printer use means less than:
20 pages per day (if medium-density E/A0 CAD plots), or
10 pages per day (if medium-density E/A0 image prints)
If your drawings are smaller than E/A0, the number of pages per day could be higher.
If you use the printer less than this, it is unlikely you will need to get it serviced. If you use the printer more than this, it is possible that, after a period of time, it will need to be serviced. The printer itself keeps an internal count of total pages printed and total passes of the print cartridges. If the front panel periodically displays STATUS: Maintenance advised. This means that your use of the printer has exceeded one of the following:
Contact your local HP dealer or HP service engineer to arrange service. After the service, the message will disappear. If you choose to ignore the message, you may continue to use the printer as normal, but may encounter a number of operational or print-quality problems.
You can see the current count of the two statistics on the Service Configuration Plot.
