Printer features
  • Prints at 600 dots-per-inch (dpi) with Resolution Enhancement technology (Ret).
  • Uses EconoMode to save toner.
  • Prints on both sides of the page to save paper (manual duplexing).
  • Prints multiple pages on a single sheet to save paper (N-up printing).
  • Protects documents by using watermarks, such as “confidential.�?

Document Assistant (Windows 95/98, 2000, XP, ME and Windows NT 4.0)
The Document Assistant is quick and convenient, and can facilitate many routine office tasks such as:

  • Storing or managing scanned text and images
  • Scanning to e-mail
  • Scanning to fax
  • Editing scanned text (OCR)
    NOTE: The Document Assistant is not available for Windows 3.1x operating systems.
Accessing the Document Assistant
  1. Click Start , located in the system tray.
  2. Click Programs .
  3. Click HP LaserJet 1100 product .
  4. Click Document Assistant .
  5. An HP icon will appear in the system tray. Click the HP icon to display the Document Assistant on the computer screen.
    NOTE: To close the Document Assistant, right-click the HP icon and click Close Document Assistant .
HP LaserJet Document Desktop
The HP LaserJet Document Desktop is a full-featured desktop application for scanning and copying capabilities using the HP LaserJet 1100A product. From the HP 1100 Document Desktop, perform the following tasks and more in Windows 3.1x, 95, 98, and NT 4.0:
  • Copy
  • Scan images (or acquire an image from a TWAIN-compliant device)
  • Store and manage scanned images
  • Send scanned images to fax (a fax software application must be installed on the PC)
  • Send scanned images to e-mail (an e-mail software application must be installed on the PC)
  • Send scanned text to a word processing application to edit (OCR)
  • Make image enhancements
  • Add annotations
    NOTE: Print (electronically) to the HP LaserJet Document Desktop from any software application. This feature allows using any of the functions within the HP LaserJet Document Desktop on documents created in any desktop publishing or word processing application, saving the time of first printing and then scanning a hard copy version. Online help provides more information about the HP LaserJet Document Desktop.
Accessing the HP LaserJet Document Desktop
Windows 95/98, 2000, XP, ME, and Windows NT 4.0
  1. Click Start , located in the Windows system tray.
  2. Click Programs .
  3. Click HP LaserJet 1100 .
  4. Click HP LaserJet Document Desktop .
Windows 3.1x
  1. From the Program Manager, double-click the HP LaserJet 1100 icon.
  2. Double-click LaserJet Document Desktop .
Quick Copy settings
The Quick Copy feature enables making consistent, convenient copies. The PC might not even have to be turned on. Adjust the settings to reflect the most common type of original copied, and they will not have to be changed again.
HP LaserJet Toolbox
The HP LaserJet Toolbox enables customizing software solutions to meet specific needs such as:
  • Changing Quick Copy settings
  • Configuring properties for the Document Assistant
  • Configuring properties for the HP LaserJet Document Desktop
  • Connecting network scanner
The HP LaserJet Toolbox also enables the following:
  • Calibrating the scanner
  • Accessing the online user guide
  • Accessing online help
    NOTE: The HP LaserJet Toolbox is not available for Windows 3.1x operating systems. However, many of the features within the HP LaserJet Toolbox can be accessed through the HP LaserJet 1100 Program Group.

Access the LaserJet Toolbox in Windows 95, 98, 2000, XP, ME and NT 4.0 from the Document Assistant by clicking Tools .
