HP LaserJet 1100 Product Family - Cleaning and Changing the Pickup Roller
 Clean or change the pickup roller if the printer is experiencing paper feed issues, such as no picks or multiple sheets feed through. Instructions for cleaning and replacing the pickup roller are below.
Cleaning the pickup roller
Unplug the power cord from the printer, and then allow the printer to cool.

Open the door and remove the print cartridge.

Locate the pickup roller inside the printer. It is the large gray roller in the center, behind where the print cartridge was before it was removed.

Avoid touching the transfer roller while removing and replacing the pickup roller. The transfer roller is the black, sponge rubber roller that is under the print cartridge area. A sheet of paper may be used to cover the transfer roller while removing or replacing the pickup roller.

Rotate the bottom of the pickup roller towards the front of the printer.

Gently pull the pickup roller straight out.

Dab a lint-free cloth in isopropyl alcohol, and then scrub the roller.

Alcohol is flammable. Keep the alcohol and cloth away from open flame. Allow alcohol to dry completely before closing the printer and plugging in the power cord.

Using a dry, lint-free cloth, wipe the pickup roller to remove loosened dirt.

Allow the pickup roller to completely dry before reinstalling it in the printer.

Position the top of the pickup roller in the slots.

NOTE:

The top of the pickup roller has round tabs. The bottom of the pickup roller has rectangular tabs. The flat side of the pickup roller goes to the back of the printer. |

Rotate the bottom of the pickup roller towards the back of the printer. The roller will “snap�? into place when properly seated.

Reinstall the print cartridge and close the printer door.

Reconnect the power cord of the printer in to turn the printer back on. The HP LaserJet 1100/1100A may pull a blank piece of paper through the printer.
Changing the pickup roller
Unplug the power cord from the printer and then allow the printer to cool.

Locate the pickup roller.

Position the new part within the slot of the old pickup roller.

Rotate the bottom of the new pickup roller toward the back of the printer until is snaps into place.

Reinstall the print cartridge and close the printer door.

Reconnect the power cord and turn the printer back on. The HP LaserJet 1100/1100a may pull a blank piece of paper through the printer.
