HP Color LaserJet 5 and 5M Printers - How to Print Self Test and Configuration Pages


RUNNING PRINTER SELF TESTS
  1. Press ON LINE until the ON LINE indicator is no longer on.
  2. Press MENU until PCL or PS TEST MENU appears on the first line of the printer display. The prefix PCL or PS depends on whether PCL or PostScript (PS) (TM) is selected.
  3. Press ITEM until the self test you want appears on the second line of the display.
    • PCL or PS SELF TEST
    • CONT SELF TEST (PCL only)
    • PCL or PS TYPEFACE LIST
    • PCL or PS DEMO PAGE
    • DEVELOPER TEST
    The prefix PCL or PS (PostScript) depends on the current control panel setting (00 PCL READY or 00 POSTSCRIPT READY). The printer needs to be set to PostScript to for a selection of PostScript test pages.
  4. Press ENTER to run the self test. The self test is performed and the test page is printed.
  5. If you selected CONT SELF TEST, press ON LINE to exit the test and return the printer online or press RESET to stop testing and remain offline. This command will print Self Tests continuously until you press ON LINE or RESET.
  6. If you selected a self test other than CONT SELF TEST, press ON LINE to return the printer on line after the test is complete. The ON LINE indicator comes on.
NOTE: The Continuous Self Test prints monochrome. It will not print in color.
