This document provides part number and specification information for memory upgrades on various legacy HP LaserJet printers.

HP LaserJet 5L / 6Lseries Printers

See Table 1 for memory SIMM part numbers or the HP LaserJet 5L or 6L series printers.

The specifications for the above memory SIMMs are:

• DRAM
• 5 Volt
• 70 nanoseconds (or slower, such as 70ns or 100ns)
• Meets JEIDA Specifications

HP LaserJet 4P, 4 Plus, 4V, 5P, 5, 5Si, and 6P series printers

See Table 2 for memory SIMM part numbers for the HP LaserJet 4P, 4 Plus, 4V, 5P, 5, 5SI and 6P series printers.

• 70 nanoseconds (or slower, such as 80 ns or 90 ns)
• Presence Detect

  NOTE:

  The 16-MB SIMM is not supported on the HP LaserJet 4P/4MP, and 4/4M printers. The 1-MB SIMM is not supported on the HP LaserJet 5Si/5Si MX and 5Si Mopier printers.

HP LaserJet IIISi, 4 and 4Si series printers

8-MB SIMM

C2066A

The specifications for the above SIMM are as follows:

• 72 pin
• 36 bit (Parity)
• 80 nanoseconds
• Presence Detect

  NOTE:

  This memory is also compatible with the HP LaserJet 4P/4MP, 4 Plus/4M Plus and 4V/4MV printers. However, it is recommended to use the SIMM part numbers specific to those printers. Presence detect must be present on all the above listed SIMMs. HP LaserJet IIISi printers with serial numbers prior to 3200 cannot use the 8 MB SIMM (C2066A).

Presence detect requirements

Presence detect is the ability to report the size and speed of the SIMMs installed in an HP LaserJet printer to whomever is asking for the information. Without presence detect, the printer would be unable to recognize that additional memory had been installed.

HP LaserJet 4L printer

The HP LaserJet 4L printer has a 1-MB memory upgrade. The part number is: C2024-69001.
