HP Compaq Business Notebook nx9000 Series - Installing Additional RAM (Memory)
 Introduction
The notebook has two slots that hold two RAM modules. At least one slot contains a
RAM module installed at the factory. Both slots can be used to expand the notebook's RAM.
Installing a RAM expansion module
Use PC2100 DDR-266 MHz or higher RAM only.
A small Phillips screwdriver will be required for the installation.

The internal components of the notebook are extremely sensitive to static
electricity and can be permanently damaged by it. Handle the RAM module
only by its edges. Before installing the memory module, discharge your body’s
static electricity by touching the metal shielding around the connectors on the
back of the notebook. |
Click Start
, Turn Off Computer
, and Turn Off

Important: unplug the AC adapter, if present, and remove the battery.
Turn the unit bottom-side up, loosen the screws holding the RAM cover, and
remove the cover.
Insert the RAM board into the connector at about a 30 degree angle until it is
fully inserted. Then press down at both sides until both latches snap closed.
Match the notebook to models presented in Figures 1 and 2.

Replace the cover.
Insert the battery.
Removing a RAM expansion module
Removing a RAM module may be necessary prior to installing a larger one. A small Phillips screwdriver will be required for these steps.

Release the two latches at the sides of the RAM board, so the free edge of the
board pops up. Match the notebook to models presented in Figures 3 and 4.

Pull the board out of the connector.
Replace the cover.
Insert the battery.
