How to upgrade the firmware using the USB port. These instructions are specific to Microsoft Windows XP. Note that they are generic in nature. For product specific Firmware upgrade instructions Click here to access the HP Software & Driver Downloads home page and search for available software for your HP product. Not all products have firmware that can be upgraded via a USB port or other methods.

For other operating systems please Click here to access the HP Software & Driver Downloads home page . Once on this web page, type in your product name/number and search. The list of available operating systems that software is available for will be listed. Just select the desired OS and look for any available firmware and software downloads. Instructions on how to upgrade firmware for each OS are also available with the firmware downloads.

Details

Go to Printer Properties, and go to the Sharing Tab. Click on the Share This Printer button. Then create the Share name. ( see the following figure)

Obtain your Computer Name (see the following image). Check the Full Computer Name of your system by going to the properties of My Computer. In the following example, the computer name is Kaula

Download the firmware, open the DOS prompt, and enter the following command:

C:\>copy /B C:\lj2400FW\08_111_1A.rfu \\kaula\hp2420USB

For a parallel download, please enter the following command:

C:\>copy /B C:\lj2400FW\08_111_1A.rfu LPT1
