Compaq Tablet PC tc1100, tc1000 - Installing Memory


Overview
The tablet PC has one user-accessible memory slot. The slot supports a PC133-compliant 128-megabyte, 256-megabyte, or 512-megabyte memory board.
WARNING: To avoid the risk of electrical shock and damage to the equipment, always unplug the power cord and remove the battery pack before installing a SODIMM.
CAUTION: To prevent electrostatic discharge and resulting damage to electronic components, make sure you are properly grounded before beginning this procedure.While the Tablet PC has two memory slots, only one is user-accessible. The other slot has memory installed at the factory and cannot be changed without voiding the unit's warranty.
NOTE: All SODIMMs supported by this system are keyed (notched) to ensure correct positioning.
Before You Begin
  1. Shut down the computer.
  2. If you are not sure whether the computer is off or in hibernation, turn the computer on, then shut it down.
  3. Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer.
  4. Disconnect the power cord.Remove the battery pack.
  5. Turn the computer bottom side up with the front facing you.
Installing Memory
  1. Remove the two screws that secure the cover plate to the base enclosure.
  2. Slide, lift, then remove the memory compartment cover.

  3. Spread the retention clips on each side of the memory expansion board. The board tilts up at a 45-degree angle.
  4. Remove the board by pulling it away from the connector at a 45-degree angle.

    CAUTION: To protect a removed memory expansion board, place it in an electrostatic-safe container.
  5. Align the keyed (notched) edge of the board with the keyed area in the expansion slot. Insert the board into the slot at a 45-degree angle until it is seated.
  6. Push the front edge of the board down until the retention clips snap into place.

  7. Align the tabs on the back edge of the cover plate with the slots on the base enclosure, then tilt the cover plate downward until it is seated.
  8. Install the two screws to secure the cover plate to the computer.
