HP ProBook 4510s Notebook PC - Removing and Replacing the Bluetooth Module


Introduction
This document is provided to assist in removing and replacing the Bluetooth Module for the HP ProBook 4510s Notebook PC.
Minimum skill level
The End User requires no hardware-specific training to replace the defective part. The End user should have familiarity with system hardware and software requiring repair.
Parts required
NOTE: Part numbers are subject to change.
The replacement part number will vary depending on the Bluetooth Module that is being replaced. If a part is listed as 'Yes' under 'Requires Return' then the defective part needs to be returned to HP. Click here for more information on returning parts to HP .

Integrated wireless Bluetooth 2.0 module 483113-001 Yes
NOTE: For customers in countries/regions with RoHS legislation* (e.g. EU, China, etc.) restricting the use of hazardous substances in electrical equipment. The use of the Original Spare part is regulated by RoHS legislation. If your unit contains a part that is labelled with the Modified Spare number, the Modified Spare must be ordered as the replacement part. If your unit contains a part that is labelled with the Original Spare number, please order the Original Spare as the replacement part. In this case either the Original Spare or the Modified Spare may be shipped which will not affect performance or functionality of the unit.

Bluetooth Module removal
  1. Review the safety considerations before performing the steps listed below by clicking on the following link:
    CAUTION: Failure to comply with the precautions could result in damage to your product or loss of data.
    CAUTION: Observe all precautions when removing and replacing components.
  2. Remove the battery, switch cover, keyboard, palm rest, and hard disk drive.

  3. Disconnect the Bluetooth cable from its connector on the right side of the system board.
  4. Remove the tape that secures the Bluetooth cable to the base enclosure.
  5. Remove the bluetooth cable from its routing channel on the base enclosure and top cover.
  6. Release the right side of the Bluetooth module from its clip on the top cover.
  7. Remove the top left corner of the Bluetooth module from its alignment slot on the top cover.
  8. Remove the Bluetooth module from the base enclosure and place it in an electrostatic dissipating bag.
Bluetooth Module replacement
  1. Remove the Bluetooth module from the electrostatic dissipating bag.
  2. Toe the top left corner of the Bluetooth module into its alignment slot on the top cover.
  3. Secure the Bluetooth module into its clip on the top cover.
  4. Route the Bluetooth cable through its routing channel on the top cover and base enclosure.
  5. Replace the tape that secures the Bluetooth cable to the base enclosure.
  6. Connect the Bluetooth cable into its connector on the right side of the system board.
