HP LaserJet P2014 and P2014n Series Printer - Firmware and Software Releases

Description
HP publicly released software and firmware for LaserJet P2014 and P2014n at www.hp.com/go/LJP2010series_software . This document briefly explains download instructions, installation instructions and fixes. Operating systems supported are Windows 2000, XP (32-bit and 64-bit), Server 2003 (32-bit) and Vista (32-bit and 64-bit).
Both software and firmware should be upgraded to make printing system most up-to-date. To determine if the firmware is outdated, print out a configuration page and check the firmware date code. To upgrade firmware, the firmware update utility is used.
NOTE: Software must be installed prior to using firmware update utility.
Download Instructions
To download software :
  1. Click here to download the software at www.hp.com/go/LJP2010series_software.
  2. Click to select product.
  3. Click to select operating system.
  4. Download HP LaserJet P2010 Printer Series Full Software Solution .
Follow the instructions on the Web pages to install the software or firmware update utility.
To download the firmware update utility :
  1. Click here to download the firmware update utility at www.hp.com/go/LJP2010series_software.
  2. Click to select product.
  3. Click to select operating system.
  4. Download HP LaserJet P2014 Firmware Update Utility or HP LaserJet P2014n Firmware Update Utility.
Follow the instructions on the Web pages to install the software or firmware update utility.
Fixes
Below are major fixes that were included in software v4.0 (date code 20080418) and firmware date code 20080506:
  • Pressing Cancel button while waiting for TIMEOUT hangs printer
  • EWS of P2014n does not open
  • Navigating to EWS Network Summary page hangs printer
  • Manual duplex with straight through paper path is broken
Below major fixes were included in software v3.0 (date code 20070903) and firmware date code 20071001:
  • Euro Font correction
  • PCL – Cardstock printed incorrectly
  • PJL wide A4 and font pitch support
  • Setup.exe install on XP 64-bit popped a WHQL warning
  • Spooler crashed when the printer was turned off
  • Vista 64-bit Service-check for updates web page was invalid
  • Printing delay with PDF and Microsoft Word document in Vista 64-bit
  • Scenarios which caused system hangs:
    • If USB cable is removed in the middle of a job
    • If a truncated job is sent from the host-based driver
    • If the job cancel button is pressed repeatedly
    • If the job cancel button is pressed after a page or two of a large PCL job
System Requirements
  • This utility is for use on Windows 2000, XP (32-bit and 64-bit), Server 2003 (32-bit) and Vista (32-bit and 64-bit). It can be used with network or USB connections.
  • Prior to using firmware update utility, printer driver (software) must be installed and printing can already be performed (e.g. print a test page to verify).
