HP TouchSmart 9300 Elite Business PC - Removing and Replacing the Hard Drive

Introduction
This document applies to the HP TouchSmart 9300 Elite Business PC.
Before you begin
  • A screwdriver is required for this procedure.
  • Turn off the computer, and then disconnect all cables. Disconnect the Ethernet or modem cable before disconnecting the power cord.
  • Move the computer to a clear, flat, stable work surface over a non-carpeted floor.
  • Do not remove a component from its protective packaging until you are ready to install it.
WARNING: The edges of metal panels can cut skin. Be careful not to slide skin along any interior metal edge of the computer.
CAUTION: This product contains components that can be damaged by electrostatic discharge (ESD). To reduce the chance of ESD damage, work over a noncarpeted floor, use a static dissipative work surface (such as a conductive foam pad), and wear an ESD wrist strap connected to a grounded surface.

Removing the hard drive
Perform the following to remove the hard drive:
CAUTION: Review the following safety considerations before performing the following steps. Failure to comply with these safety considerations could result in damage to the product.
NOTE: The video shown depicts a different version of the All-in-one desktop. The same removal and replacement procedures apply to the HP TouchSmart 9300 Elite.
Step 1

Remove the USB dongle cap.
Step 2

Remove the right rear cap.
Step 3

Loosen the captive screw.
Step 4

Remove the hard drive.
Step 5

Remove the screws.
Step 6

Slide out the hard drive.
Replacing the hard drive
Perform the following to replace the hard drive:
Step 1

Slide in the hard drive.
Step 2

Replace the screws.
Step 3

Replace the hard drive.
Step 4

Press the hard drive.
Step 5

Tighten the captive screw.
Step 6

Replace the right rear cap.
Step 7

Replace the USB dongle cap.
