HP Pavilion Desktop PCs - Replacing the Power Supply
 This document only pertains to HP Pavilion desktop computers with the following PC case:
Before you begin
- Turn off the computer, disconnect all cables, and transfer the computer to a clear, flat, stable work surface over a non-carpeted floor.
- HP strongly recommends the use of an anti-static wrist strap and a conductive foam pad when working on the computer.

The edges of metal panels can cut skin. Be careful not to slide skin along any interior metal edge of the computer. |

This product contains components that can be damaged by electrostatic discharge (ESD). To reduce the chance of ESD damage, work over a noncarpeted floor, use a static dissipative work surface (such as a conductive foam pad), and wear an ESD wrist strap connected to a grounded surface. |

Removing the Power Supply
Use the steps in this section to remove the power supply.
| WARNING:

Make sure the computer is disconnected from power before starting.Do not attempt to disassemble or repair the power supply, or this could cause personal injury and equipment damage. Always replace the entire power supply. |
Step 1. To remove the power supply, you must first remove the following components in the order listed below:

Fan assembly
Pocket Media Drive bay
Optical drive
Hard disk drive and tray
Drive tray

| Step 2. Unhook the hard drive power supply cable from the metal cable guides. |

| Step 3. Remove the four screws that connect the power supply to the back of the computer. |
|
| Step 4. Pull the power supply toward the center of the computer, ... |
|
| ... and then pull it out and away from the computer. |
|
| Step 5. Remove the power connector to the motherboard. |
