PART #C2970A (HP DESKJET MODEL)
Compatible with the following HP printers: HP DeskJet 500, 500C, 520, 540, 550, 560C, 600, 600C, 660C and 660Cse, 680C, 682C Printers.
Not Compatible with the following HP DeskJet printers: HP DeskJet 310, 320, 820Cse, 820Cxi, 850C*, 855C*, 855Cse*, 855Cxi*, 870Cxi*, 1200C*, 1600C*, 1600CM*, and HP CopyJet* printers.
*These printers are compatible with the HP PrinterPal P/N C2971A (HP LaserJet Model).

PART #C2971A (HP LASERJET MODEL)
Compatible with the following HP DeskJet and HP LaserJet printers: HP LaserJet III*, IIID*, IIIP*, 4L, 4ML, 4P, 4MP, 4, 4M, 4 Plus, 5, 5P, 5MP, 5L, 5L FS, 5N, 5M printers
* 2 MB Memory Required.
HP DeskJet 850C, 855C, 855Cse, 855Cxi, 870Cxi, 1200C, 1600C, 1600CM, and HP CopyJet printers.
Not compatible with the following HP printers: Workgroup printers, such as the HP LaserJet 4Si/4SiMx, 4V, 4MV, HP Color LaserJets 5, and 5M Printers. Untested and not supported on the HP LaserJet 4000 Family printers.

The HP DeskJet 850C, 855C, 1200C, 1600C, 1600CM, and HP CopyJet printers need to use the HP LaserJet PrinterPal Model # C2971A because the Parallel extension cable is needed for connectivity limitations with the HP DeskJet printer Models. |

Any of the M series Printers listed above will work as a receive only fax when the printer is connected to a Macintosh computer. This is because the software is PC Windows based software. Also, the printer needs to be in the PCL print mode or be able to auto switch between PCL and PostScript (R). At the time of this update, the HP DeskJet 400 printer has not been tested for compatibility with either model. |
