The DisplayPort is a new digital display interface connector that provides better interoperability and higher resolutions for new and future output devices. DisplayPort will eventually replace both the DVI and VGA interface connectors.

DisplayPort has the following benefits:

• It has a smaller connector than DVI.
• It uses a packetized protocol that supports higher resolutions.
• It supports an audio signal.
• It supports copy protection for high-definition playback.
