1. Remove the duplexer from the package and then remove the orange tape and all packing material from the duplexer.
2. Turn the printer power off. Make sure that the right-angle plug that came with the printer is being used.

3. Remove the duplex-slot cover from the back of the printer.

Reinstall this cover when the duplexer is not attached.

4. Using both hands, insert the duplexer all the way into the slot.

5. Turn the printer power on.

6. To take advantage of all the duplexer functions, the printer driver on the host computer for the printer must be configured to recognize the duplexer.
To configure the printer driver for Macintosh computers, go to Step 7.
To configure the printer driver for Windows computers, use the following steps:
a. At the host computer, open the Properties
window for the printer.
b. On the Configure tab, select the checkbox for the duplexer. MS Windows XP: On the Device Settings tab choose Duplex Unit Installed
c. Continue with Step 8.

7. Use the following steps to configure the printer driver for Macintosh computers.
For Macintosh OS 9.x computers:
a. Select the printer icon on the desktop, click the Printing menu at the top of the screen, and then click Change Setup
.
b. In the setup window, click the Change
menu.
c. Under Installable Options
, select the device.
d. Click OK
.
e. Continue with Step 8.
For Macintosh OS 10.1.x
a. Open the Print Center, highlight the printer that has the new accessory, and click Delete
.
b. Click the Add Printer
button and highlight the appropriate printer.
c. Use Auto Select for printer model.
d. Click Add
.

NOTE:

There is no way to add an accessory to a printer in OS 10.1.x. The operating system must communicate with the printer in order to detect any accessories. |
e. Continue with Step 8.
For Macintosh OS 10.2:
a. In the Print Center, select the printer.
b. Click the Printers
menu at the top of the screen, and then click Show Info
.
c. Click the Name & Location
menu, and then click Installable Options
.
d. Set the duplexer as installed.
e. Continue with Step 8.

8. To verify that installation is complete, print a Configuration page. At the printer control panel, press
(Select) to open the printer menus. Use
(Up Arrow) or
(Down Arrow) to scroll to INFORMATION, and then press
(Select). Scroll to PRINT CONFIGURATION and then press
(Select).

9. Make sure that the Configuration page lists the duplexer as an installed accessory. If the duplexer is not listed, see the printer User Guide on the CD-ROM that came with the printer for troubleshooting information.

10. Select duplex or two-sided printing from the program. If neither of these options is available in the program, use the printer control panel menus to turn on duplexing. For more information, see the printer User Guide.
