HP Scanjet 3300C series scanners - Installation and Setup Procedure


Introduction
This document provides information about the box contents and explains how to set up and use the HP Scanjet scanner.
NOTE: To order replacement software, please contact HP Software Distribution services .
Installing HP Precisionscan LT software
  1. Click Step 1 on the Installation screen.

  2. After clicking Step 1 , the InstallShield Wizard will appear. Follow the instructions and shut down any open programs. Click Next .
  3. Click Yes on the License Agreement page.
  4. Click Next on the Confirm Installation Settings page to accept the defaults.
  5. Click Next to add the HP Precisionscan LT Software to the Program Folders.
  6. After clicking Next , the HP Precisionscan LT software will install on the PC.
  7. Once the HP Precisionscan LT software has been successfully installed, restart the PC. Restart the PC by clicking Next .
  8. After the PC restarts, click Start and select Shut Down . With the PC turned off, unlock the HP Scanjet scanner and attach all cables and power cords. Turn the PC back on and let it restart.
  9. A message stating, “New Hardware Found�? should appear. Remove the HP Scanning Software CD and insert the Windows 98 CD. Click OK .
  10. Windows will now install the necessary files for the HP Scanjet scanner.
    NOTE: If after doing this an error message stating that “the file could not be found�? appears, make sure that the PC is looking at the Windows 98 CD and not the HP Scanning Software CD. This can be done by looking in the box labeled Copy Files From. This should read X:\Win98 (where X: is the drive letter for the CD-ROM). The PC should copy the files and finish rebooting.
  11. Now install the additional software, which comes on the HP Scanning Software CD-ROM.
  12. Insert the HP Scanning Software CD.
    NOTE: If it does not auto-launch, click Start , Run , and type X:\Setup (where X is the letter of the CD-ROM drive), then click OK .
Installing Adobe (R) PhotoDeluxe (TM)
  1. Click Step 2 on the Installation screen (pictured above) to install the Adobe PhotoDeluxe Home Edition Image Editing Software.
  2. Follow the instructions and shut down any open programs. Click Next .
  3. Select the Country in which you live and click Next .
  4. Click Yes to agree with the License Agreement.
  5. Click Typical to select the default Setup type, then click Next
  6. Choose the correct Registration information and fill out the necessary information, then click Next .
  7. Select Next if all of the information is correct or Back if something is incorrect.
  8. Setup will now install the Image Editing Software.
  9. Click Next when prompted to install Acrobat (R) Reader.
  10. Click Yes to the License Agreement.
  11. Click Next to accept the defaults.
  12. Setup will now install Acrobat Reader.
  13. To view the readme.txt for Acrobat Reader, leave the check mark in the Display box and click Finish . To skip viewing the Readme.txt file, remove the checkmark from the Display box before clicking Finish .
  14. Click OK .
  15. To install Adobe (R) Type Manager, click Install . To not install, click Cancel .
  16. To register the software online, leave the check mark in the PhotoDeluxe Home Edition online registration box and click Finish . To skip this portion of the setup, remove the check mark from the PhotoDeluxe Home Edition online registration box and click Next .
  17. Click OK to restart the PC and complete the installation of the Adobe PhotoDeluxe Home Edition software.
  18. Click OK after rebooting.
    NOTE: If this screen does not appear, click Start , Run , type X:\Setup (where X is the letter of the CD-ROM drive), then click OK .
Install optional components
  1. Under Step 3, click Install Professor Franklin’s Instant Photo Effects .

  2. Click Next on the License Agreement.
  3. Choose whichever Professor Franklin setup option best suits your needs and click Next .
  4. Click Next to accept the default installation directory.
  5. Click Next and Setup will now install the software.
  6. Click Close
  7. Click View Creative Ideas Guide under Step 3 to run a slide show of ideas for use with the scanner.
  8. This screen is the starting point for exploring the Creative Ideas Guide. The Creative Ideas Guide can be used over and over, just by coming to this screen.
  9. When finished, click Exit in the lower left corner to go back to the Install screen.
Exit
  1. Click Step 4 to exit the Installation process.
  2. Remove the HP Scanning Software CD-ROM from the CD-ROM drive.
SUMMARY: HP supplies all manuals and help files with HP Scanjet scanners on the supplied CD-ROM. To access the information, install the scanning software from the CD-ROM. Once that is completed, follow the path below to the User Guide and much more.
