HP Color LaserJet 3000/3600/3800 and CP3505 Series Printer - Out of Paper Error Message on the Printer

ISSUE:
The above mentioned printers may display Out of Paper error message on the printer.
SOLUTION:
This issue could be related to printer hardware (Media sensor for tray two). If tray two is stating empty, then either the tray panel is not unlocking, allowing the paper to bounce up to trigger the sensor, Or the sensor is failing.
In the above case, perform the following steps, and check for the results:
  1. Try to clear the error message by opening and shutting the tray numerous times.
  2. Press down the sheet metal panel on which the paper sits, it should lock into place.
Underneath the tray is a tiny switch that unlocks it. The mechanism that unlocks this switch is simply a bend in a metal strip within the cavity of the tray two area. If the printer is not on a level surface, that bend will not trigger the unlocking mechanism.
  3. Then, the printer needs to be turned at 90 degrees either direction and shut the tray again (ensuring there is paper loaded). If the message goes away, you do not have the printer on a level surface.
If the issue recurs, the issue may be related to Sensor related and contact HP Support for further assistance.
