The HP LaserJet 5Si, 5SiMX, 5SiNX, or 5Si Mopier will not pull paper from Tray 1. Using Tray 1 results in a 13.2 PAPER JAM or 41.3 IMPROPER PAPER SIZE message on the printer control panel. The separation roller for Tray 1 might spin, but the metal registration tray does not lift.

Tray 1 has two sensors located approximately 38-mm (1.5 inches) on either side of the gray separation roller. If the sensors become stuck, the registration tray will not lift. To free the sensors, perform a paper path test. After pushing the select key the final time, press firmly on the 38-mm (1.5 inches) metal registration plate, which is located in front of the separation roller.
