Introduction

PS commands can be sent to the MFP to enable specific functionality of a particular paper-handling device. These commands can only be sent to the printer on a "job by job" basis. The PS commands listed below are "job specific" and will set the functionality of the HP 2500-sheet multi-function finisher - (Q3634A), the HP 3000-sheet stapler/stacker - (Q3633A), the HP Punch Kit - (Q3635A) and the HP Post Insertion Kit - (Q3636A).

How it works

DESTINATION: Each finishing device offers two locations (BINS) to distribute finished print jobs to. Each BIN offers the ability to place the job in a face up or face down position.

STAPLING: Stapling can be performed on the left, right, or top of the paper. Paper sizes that can only be fed through the MFP in short edge fashion can only be top stapled in the Portrait orientation.

The Q3634A HP 2500-sheet multi-function finisher and the Q3633A HP 3000-sheet stapler/stacker devices provide the ability to perform several types of stapling:

• Single point left corner
• 2 points left, single point right
• 2 points right
• 2 points on top

FOLDING: (Some limitations for folding)

Folding functionality is only provided by the HP 2500-sheet multi-function finisher Q3634A. The number of sheets that can be folded are as follows:

• Tri-fold is limited to three sheets (20-lb media).
• Half is limited to 35 sheets (20-lb media).
• Fold/Saddle Stitch is limited to 20 sheets (20-lb media).

Stapling limitations are as follows:

• Tri-folding can not be stapled.
• Half folding can only be saddle stitched if stapling is used.

  NOTE:

  The Q3634A HP 2500-sheet multi-function finisher provides the ability to perform two types of folding: Half sheet and Tri-fold (envelope insertion fold).

Booklet printing

The grouping of commands below will help provide a booklet fold and center staple grouping (stitch) ONLY when using the multi-function finisher. Full functionality booklet printing requires N-UP printing and this can only be achieved by using the product's printer drivers.

Punching

The HP Punch Kit implements this capability. There are four different versions of the kit. Each kit provides different punching capabilities.

Punching can be performed on the left, right, or top of the paper. Depending on the number of holes (Kit used, 2, 3, or 4) and the size of the paper, punching may be restricted.

Post inserting

HP Post Insertion Kit - Q3636A

This unit is attached to the top of either of the two available finishing units, (Q3634A HP 2500-sheet multi-function finisher or the Q3633A HP 3000-sheet stapler/stacker). It works as a cover sheet feeder and provides two input trays that can be loaded with special materials for insertion by the finisher as a cover or back cover sheet. This media cannot be printed upon though, as there is no paper path back into the engine of the MFP.

¹ X indicates the location where the number (command) is placed that indicates what tray to pull from. For all trays other than tray one, the value for manual feed should always be "false". "True" should only be used when tray 1 is selected and manual feed is desired.
