HP Scanjet 4500, 4570, 5500, 5550 Series Scanners, HP Scanjet 5590 Series Flatbed Scanners and HP Scanjet 5530 Photosmart Scanner - Performing an ADF/APF Self Test

Introduction
An Automatic Document Feeder/Automatic Photo Feeder (ADF/APF) self test is a quick, simple, and effective way to test whether the ADF/APF hardware is working correctly. Scanner ADF/APF self tests check the following:
  • The ability to supply power to the ADF/APF
  • The ability to feed documents or photos through the ADF/APF
If the scanner ADF/APF passes the test, the ADF/APF hardware is good. If the ADF/APF fails the self test, contact HP for further assistance.
This information applies to the following products:
  • Scanjet 4500c and 4500cxi scanners
  • Scanjet 4570c, 4570cv, and 4570cxi scanners
  • Scanjet 5500c and 5500cxi scanners
  • Scanjet 5530 Photosmart scanner
  • Scanjet 5550c and 5550cxi scanners
  • Scanjet 5590 and 5590P flatbed scanners
