HP Notebook PCs - Slow Performance When Notebook PC Reads Data From CD/DVD Optical Drive

DESCRIPTION

This document applies to HP Notebook PCs with Microsoft Windows Vista

The CD/DVD optical drive appears to have slow performance when the notebook PC reads data from the CD/DVD.

SCOPE

The specific notebook PCs affected by this issue are listed in the Hardware Platforms Affected section at the bottom of this advisory.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, perform the following:

  1. Click Start , Control Panel , Hardware and Sound and then click Device Manager .

  2. Click Continue to grant permission to enter Device Manager.

  3. Expand IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers .

  4. Double click the appropriate ATA Channel.

  5. Select the Advanced Settings tab and then select IDE Enable .

  6. Click OK and then exit Device Manager.

Operating Systems Affected: Microsoft Windows Vista (32-bit), Microsoft Windows Vista (64-bit)
