HP and Compaq Desktop PCs - Error: Mediahub.exe Application Error


This document pertains to computers with Windows XP, Sonic Digital Media, and Windows Media Player 11.
Error messages
After closing Sonic Digital Media three errors (or similar errors) appear:
  • First error: Mediahub.exe Application Error
    The instruction at "0x0036aef0"referenced memory at "0x0025f5d0". The memory could not be "written".
    Click OK to terminate the program.

  • Second error: Mediahub.exe Application Error
    The instruction at "0x00460020"referenced memory at "0x0b6f9d88". The memory could not be "written".
    Click OK to terminate the program.

  • Third error: Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
    Runtime Error!
    Program: ...ommon Files\Sonic Shared\Sonic Central\Main\Mediahub.exe.
    R6025 - pure virtual function call

Cause
These errors are caused by an incompatibilty between a version of Sonic Digital Media and Windows Media Player 11.
Resolution
To resolve these errors, download and install Sonic Digital Media Plus/Deluxe Application Update sp34919 from HP's Web site. Go to the HP Software download page and enter the specific model number for your computer. The specific model number for your computer can be found on a serial label adhered on the back of the computer or you can find out how to find your model number by reading one of the following support articles below:
Workaround
If you have upgraded Windows Media Player 10 to Windows Media Player 11 you can uninstall Windows Media Player 11 and use Windows Media Player 10. For more information about how to uninstall software in Windows XP, please refer to the HP support document Uninstalling Software in Windows XP .
