HP Color LaserJet 2600n Printer - Configuration Options for the HP Color LaserJet 2600n Toolbox


The HP Color LaserJet 2600n Toolbox is divided into two main sections: the HP Color LaserJet2600n Toolbox section and the Device Settings section. Each of these sections has controls grouped into a set of tabs. In addition to these two sections, the HP Color LaserJet 2600n Toolbox has other pages that are accessible from various points within the HP Color LaserJet 2600n Toolbox. The following lists describe the basic layout of these sections and the configuration options available on each tab.

The Device Status page shows device status messages from the device. The Device Status page also displays some pertinent printer information and device settings.

Status messages
The status messages that appear on the Device Status page are the same messages that appear on the HP Color LaserJet 2600n control panel display. The following message types are available:

Device Settings section
The Device Settings section is comprised of the following tabs.

Gain access to the Device Settings section of the HP Color LaserJet 2600n Toolbox by clicking the Device Settings button located at the top right corner of the Device Status page. When this method is used, the opening screen of the Device Settings section looks like the following illustration.

If the HP Color LaserJet 2600n printer is installed through the on-board networking feature, you can also gain access to the Device Settings section by opening the Web browser and typing in the IP address of the HP Color LaserJet 2600n printer. When this method is used, also known as the Embedded Web Server, the opening screen of the Device Settings section looks like the following illustration.
NOTE: Print a Configuration page to locate the printer IP address. Press the SELECT button on the printer control panel to enter the Main Menu to print a Configuration page. Press the SELECT button again to enter the Reports Menu, use the right or left arrow buttons to navigate to Config Report , and then press the SELECT button.

Supplies Status page
NOTE: The Supplies Status page displayed in the Device Settings section of the HP Color LaserJet 2600n Toolbox is identical to the Supplies Status page displayed in the HP Color LaserJet 2600n Toolbox section.
The Supplies Status page displays the status of all of the supplies used by the printer, including the black, cyan, magenta, and yellow print cartridges and the imaging drum. This page also provides a link for return and recycling information.

The following options are available from the Optimize menu.
Optimize option Description
Background Toner Decreased developer AC bias peak-to-peak voltage.
Extra Cleaning Extended post-rotation time (by 2 to 11 seconds) plus fan speed up (for high-talc media).
Trailing Edge Over-development (full-speed) Change blank pulse setting (number of AC bias saves that are dropped out).
Trailing Edge Over-development (half-speed) Decreased developer AC bias peak-to-peak voltage.
Mottle prevention Extended pre-rotation time (by 15 seconds).
Less Duplex Transfer Current Decreased transfer bias on second side of duplex jobs. For media that has low resistivity after fusing.
More Duplex Transfer Current Increase transfer bias on second side of duplex jobs. For media that has high resistivity after fusing.

Password page
Use this page to set or change the Administrator password.
The following occurs when the user sets the password.
  • Only the Network tab and its contents are protected. A user is able to view and change configuration items on the Status and Settings tabs.
  • Once the user clicks the Networking tab, a pop-up dialogue box appears, into which the user must type in the correct password.
  • When the user types in a correct password, the customer can view and change any of the configuration items under the Networking tab.
  • A customer only needs to enter the password one time during a browser session. The user clicks the Networking tab and types in the password. The user can go back to the Status and Settings tabs. When the user clicks the Networking tab, the user does not need to enter the password again unless the user opens a new browser session.
