HP Scanjet Scanners - Using the HP Photo and Imaging Software to Send Scanned Images in E-mail without Using the E-mail Button

Introduction
This document explains how to send a scan in e-mail by using the attachment or insert feature that came with your e-mail program (for example, such as AOL 8.0 or Juno).
Use the attachment or insert feature to send scans when the e-mail program does not open after you press the e-mail button on the scanner or click the e-mail button in the HP Photo & Imaging software.
Step 1: Scan a picture
  1. Place an original picture or photograph face down on the HP Scanjet scanner glass (use the icons on the scanner for guidance about placing the original).
  2. Open the HP Director.
    • From the Windows first screen, double-click the HP Director icon. The HP Director opens.
    • Click Start , select Programs , select Hewlett-Packard , select HP Scanjet scanner , and then select HP Photo & Imaging director . The HP Director opens.
  3. In the Select Device window, select the HP Scanjet scanner from the list.
  4. Click Scan Picture to start the HP Photo & Imaging software.
  5. Make all of the changes that you want to the scanned image.
  6. Click Accept after making any changes to the scanned image. The scanner rescans the image, the HP Scanning software closes, and the HP Photo & Imaging Gallery opens.
  7. By default, the HP Photo & Imaging software saves scanned images to the C:\MY DOCUMENTS\MY PICTURES\CURRENT MONTH folder. The HP Photo & Imaging software automatically creates a new folder for every year and month. It is important to remember the folder where the image is saved.

Step 2: Attach the scanned image to e-mail
  1. Open the e-mail program and compose a new e-mail.
  2. Use the attach file or insert picture option. (See the e-mail program documentation for instructions about using the attach file or insert picture feature.)
  3. Browse to the folder where the scanned image was saved. By default, this is the C:\MY DOCUMENTS\MY PICTURES\CURRENT MONTH folder.
  4. Send the e-mail after the picture is attached or inserted.
