HP Jetdirect and Embedded Jetdirect Inside Print Servers - Add a Standard TCP/IP Port in Windows 2000

How do I add an HP Jetdirect Printer using the Standard TCP/IP Port in Windows 2000?
SOLUTION:
Follow the steps below:

NOTE:

Windows 2000 ships with the Standard TCP/IP port, no additional software from Hewlett-Packard is required. |
Select Start
, Settings
then Printers
.
To install a new printer, click the Add
Printer
icon.
The Add
Printer
Wizard
screen will launch.

Click Next
.
Select Local
Printer
, then click Next
.

If the “Automatically detect and install my Plug and Play printer�? box is checked you will see the following screen. |

Select Create a new Port
, then choose Standard TCP/IP Port
.

The Add Standard TCP/IP Printer Port Wizard
will launch.

To continue, click Next
.
Enter the Printer Name or IP Address, and a port name for the desired device.

If your HP Jetdirect Device has multiple Ports you will see this screen.

NOTE:

If your HP Jetdirect Card is an EIO card (J3110A, J3111A, J3112A, J3113A) you will not see the above screen. If your HP Jetdirect Card is a 300x External Jetdirect (J3263A, J4101B) with only one port, you will still see the above screen. In this case, select parallel 1. |
Then you will see this screen, click Finish

Select your printer type.

This is an optional screen, if you have already added the driver you will see this screen. Click Next
.

You must assign a name for this printer, and decide if you want to use it as your default printer.

Indicate whether you want this printer to be available to other users.
