HP Deskjet 1120C Professional Series Printers - Downloading and Installing the HP Deskjet 1120C Printer Driver, v 11.6 from the Internet

ISSUE:
Downloading and installing the HP Deskjet 1120C printer driver v 11.6 from the Internet.
NOTE: HP Deskjet series printer driver files can be downloaded from the Internet at www.hp.com.
SOLUTION:
The HP Deskjet 1120C printer driver files may be downloaded either as a single file or as multiple files. When using a fast connection to the Internet, 33.6 baud modem connection or faster, the single file download is recommended. If downloads typically encounter connection problems, where the download is often interrupted or if a modem supporting 28.8 baud or slower is used, the multiple file download is recommended.
The printer driver can be downloaded from hp.com, click here to go to the download site . Follow the steps below to download and install the printer driver files.
Windows 3.1x
  1. On the Internet, navigate to the HP Deskjet 1120C printer driver download page, and download the Windows 3.1x driver. If prompted for a save location or filename, type C:\DRIVER. The name of the file being downloaded should be DJ171EN.EXE.
    NOTE: The HP Deskjet 1120C printer driver v 11.6 may be downloaded in a single file (DJ171EN.EXE), or in multiple file downloads (DJ171EN1.EXE, DJ171EN2.EXE, DJ171EN3.EXE). If the driver is downloaded in multiple files, then all three files will need to be downloaded and extracted before the driver can be installed.
  2. After the driver has been downloaded, disconnect from the Internet.
  3. Close any unnecessary programs running on the computer, using the steps below.
    1. On the keyboard, press CTRL + ESC to retrieve the Task List.
    2. Highlight any program in the list (except Program Manager) and select End Task .
    3. Repeat Steps a and b until all programs (except Program Manager) are closed.
    4. Once the Task List shows only Program Manager, select Cancel to close the Task List.
  4. Open Main and File Manager . Select the C:\ drive icon.
  5. Open the Driver folder and double-click the filename for the downloaded driver to extract the driver. When a WinZip message appears stating, "HP Deskjet 1120C Printing Software for Windows 3.1 and Windows 95/98," select OK .
  6. In the Unzip to Folder box, type C:\DRIVER and select Unzip . When a message appears stating, "files unzipped successfully," select OK . If the driver was downloaded in multiple files, then repeat the steps for the two additional downloaded files.
  7. For the single file download, the printer driver installation will automatically run. If the driver was downloaded in multiple files, run the SETUP.EXE file located in the C:\DRIVER\DISK1 folder to start the installation. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the installation.
  8. After the driver has been installed, the C:\DRIVER directory can be deleted. To do this, open Main and File Manager . Click the C:\DRIVER directory, select File , Delete , OK , and Yes to All .
Windows 95/98 (9x) and Millennium Edition (Me)
  1. Select Start , Programs , and Windows Explorer .
  2. Under All Folders, select the C:\ drive .Then, select File , New , and Folder . Type Driver , and press ENTER to rename the new folder. The Driver folder should now be listed under the C:\ drive.
  3. On the Internet, navigate to the HP Deskjet 1120C printer driver download page, and download the Windows 9x driver. When prompted for the save location, make sure the C:\DRIVER directory is selected. The name of the file being downloaded should be DJ171EN.EXE.
    NOTE: The HP Deskjet 1120C printer driver v 11.6 may be downloaded in a single file download (DJ171EN.EXE) or in multiple file downloads (DJ171EN1.EXE, DJ171EN2.EXE, DJ171EN3.EXE). If the driver is downloaded in multiple files, then all three files will need to be downloaded and extracted before the driver can be installed. The Windows 9x printer driver is compatible with Windows Me.
  4. After the driver has been downloaded, disconnect from the Internet.
  5. Close any unnecessary programs running on the computer, using the steps below.
    1. On the keyboard, press CTRL + ALT + DELETE to retrieve the Close Program window.
    2. Highlight any program in the list (except Explorer and Systray) and select End Task .
    3. Repeat Steps a and b until all programs (except Explorer and Systray) are closed.
    4. Once the list shows only Explorer and Systray, click Cancel to close the Close Program window.
  6. Select Start , Programs , Windows Explorer , and select the C:\DRIVER folder.
  7. Double-click the filename for the downloaded driver to extract the driver. When a Winzip message appears stating, "HP Deskjet 1120C Software for Windows 3.1 and Windows 95/98," select OK .
  8. In the Unzip to Folder box, type C:\DRIVER and select Unzip . When a message appears stating, "files unzipped successfully," select OK . If the driver was downloaded in multiple files, then repeat Step 7 for the two additional downloaded files.
  9. For the single file download, the printer driver installation will automatically run. If the driver was downloaded in multiple files, then double-click SETUP.EXE located in the DISK1 folder to start the installation. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the installation.
  10. After the driver has been installed, the C:\DRIVER directory can be deleted. To do this, open Windows Explorer, click the C:\DRIVER directory, select File , Delete , Yes , and Yes to All .
Windows NT 4.0
NOTE: You must be a network administrator or have administrator privileges to install a printer in Windows NT 4.0.
  1. Select Start , Programs , and Windows NT Explorer .
  2. Under All Folders, select the C:\ drive .Then, select File , New , and Folder . Type Driver , and press ENTER to rename the new folder. The Driver folder should now be listed under the C:\ drive.
  3. On the Internet, navigate to the HP Deskjet 1120C printer driver download page, and download the Windows NT 4.0 driver. When prompted for the save location, make sure the C:\DRIVER directory is selected. The name of the file being downloaded should be DJ176EN.EXE.
    NOTE: The HP Deskjet 1120C printer driver v 11.6 may be downloaded in a single file (DJ176EN.EXE) or in multiple file downloads (DJ176EN1.EXE, DJ176EN2.EXE, DJ176EN3.EXE, DJ176EN4.EXE). If the driver is downloaded in multiple files, then all four files will need to be downloaded and extracted before the driver can be installed.
  4. After the driver has been downloaded, disconnect from the Internet and close any running applications.
  5. Select Start , Programs , Windows NT Explorer , and select the C:\DRIVER folder.
  6. Double-click the filename for the downloaded driver to extract the driver. When a Winzip message appears stating, "HP Deskjet 1120C Software for Windows NT 4.0," select OK .
  7. In the Unzip to Folder box, type C:\DRIVER and select Unzip . When a message appears stating "files unzipped successfully," select OK .
  8. The printer driver installation should automatically run. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the installation.
  9. After the driver has been installed, the C:\DRIVER directory can be deleted. To do this, open Windows NT Explorer, click the C:\DRIVER directory, select File , Delete , Yes , and Yes to All .
